GMG Enters Pirelli World Challenge Ready for an Ultra Season

Following an impressive 2013 season, which saw the team take a company high three victories and narrowly missing out on GT championship, California-based GMG (Global Motorsports Group) will head to this weekend’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg four cars strong. As the season opener for Pirelli World Challenge, the team will run their first campaign with the highly touted Audi R8 LMS Ultra. Hennessey Venom GT 270.49 mph: World’s Fastest

The Hennessey Venom GT set a new world speed record for two-seater sportscars by reaching a top speed of 435.31 km/h (270.49 mph). The run was performed at Kennedy Space Center on the 3.2-mile Space Shuttle landing runway. Brian Smith, a former Michelin tire test engineer, Director of Miller Motorsport and experienced race driver drove the Venom GT to its record speed. A representative from Racelogic, world-renowned manufacturer of GPS data acquisition systems was on hand to independently verify and document the Hennessey Venom GT’s speed record.
