IIHS announces four new Top Safety picks

In order to be named as the Top Safety Pick, a vehicle needs to achieve a top score in all the tests conducted by the organization. These tests include front, side and rear crash tests as well as a rollover test. IIHS has recently also introduced a new front impact test which is designed to evaluate a vehicle’s performance in keeping its passenger safe in case of an accident. However, the new test is not a part of the criteria for Top Safety Pick. However, IIHS said that most of the automakers passed the new test as engine absorbs much of the impact.
