Bentley’s new sport utility vehicle will strengthen its ambition to be the most prestigious 4×4 of the world with flagship model propelled by 12-cylinder powertrain. Mr. Wolfgang Durheimer, Chief Executive Officer at Bentley said that they will be the first to use a 12-cylinder engine in its premium sport utility vehicle. It is likely to be the next generation version of most recent W12 powertrain found in Continental family. Wolfgang said that he likes packaging advantage of W12 than the V12, albeit the sport utility vehicle’s engine is engineered for accepting a vee engine as well. Bentley is also planning a V12 TDI version of SUV couple of years after the introduction. The all new V12 powertrain will be the next generation version of 6.0 liter TDI V12 of Audi that generates 493 horsepower.

To get the sport utility vehicle into production, the Bentley has employed new chief engineer named Rolf Frech from Porsche for replacing Ulrich Eicchorn. He brings wide sport utility vehicle engineering experience to the company having worked on Cayenne model of Porsche. The SUV will be launched in the year 2015, a year, which fits Wolfgang’s strategic plan for sport utility vehicle for bolstering product range of the company. Enormously, plenty of premium luxury sport utility vehicles have been marketed – Audi Q7, Range Rover, Cayenne and more, but nobody has given those owners an opportunity to upgrade, but Bentley will. Bentley is a British automobile manufacturing, which was established in the month of January 1919 by Walter Own Bentley known as W.O. Bentley. Acquired by Rolls Royce in the year 1931, when production was moved to Derby from London and then to Crewe, the business was fully owned by Germany’s Volkswagen Group since 1998.
