Audi revealed its R8 V12 TDI concept at the Detroit Motor Show back in 2008. It gained quite a lot of popularity with its imposing design and everyone hoped that this diesel car will make its way through the Audi lineup someday. However that didn’t happened and only V12 TDI that made to the product portfolio was the one in the Q7 SUV, that also only in European market.
But now it seems that Audi has not yet rejected the entire idea and there are speculations about Audi currently working on a Le-Mans inspired Hybrid diesel supercar that will be sitting at the top of its product lineup. Some of the inside sources have revealed that the new vehicle may be branded as Audi R10 and could work as the road version of the R18 e-Tron Quattro.
However, Audi has not yet released any official statement but one thing is for sure that the engine will not be the same V12 as it is too heavy and the peak torque of about 700 pound-feet is much more than the capacity of the current transmission system that Audi offers with its product range.
