Audi is coming out with its ultimate A1. This supermini, which is going to see limited production very soon, has been beautifully crafted. The car gets its power from a direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing maximum power of 256hp and a peak torque of 258lb-ft. The A1 Quattro comes with an all-wheel drive feature. It races from 0 to 62mph within 5.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 152mph. Its competitor, the John Cooper Works Mini takes 6.2 seconds to reach 62mph from transit whereas its top speed is restricted to only 147mph. The A1 has only been provided with six-speed manual transmission gearbox and it is estimated to offer 27mpg fuel consumption. 225/35 rubber tires have been provided to the A1 Quattro along with 18-inch center-lug cast-aluminum wheels. The suspension setup has been firmer compared to the lower-end variants of the A1. Consumers have been provided with the option of completely switching off its stability control feature.
The exterior of the A1 has been extensively modified to ensure that the car catches your notice. It has been made available only in white metallic color with a black colored roof. The spoiler has been kept white. Its lower intakes have been enlarged substantially and almost consume the total front fascia. Wing shaped elements within the Xenon Headlamps have been painted red. Two large in diameter tailpipes have been provided to the exhaust system. If consumers feel that the overall appearance of the A1 Quattro look familiar, they are correct as the car is basically a production variant of its concept car, the A1 Clubsport. However, the concept had come with 503Hp power and the Quattro has power restricted to almost half of it. Black leather, brushed steel and red accents dominate the interiors of the A1 Quattro. It has been provided with a flat-bottomed small steering wheel. Rear seat has been retained in the Quattro, therefore differentiating it from the Clubsport in this aspect.
The limited edition A1 Quattro has been loaded with features including LED taillights, Xenon headlights, navigation system 14-speaker 465W stereo system, WiFi and leather seats. Price of this vehicle has not been announced by the company but Audi is only going to make 333 units of this car. The vehicle will reach markets somewhere in the third quarter of 2012, but it will not come to the United States.
This A1Quattro is preceding the S1, which is expected to be a bit more sophisticated vehicle and is expected to launch in 2013. However, this vehicle will also not make its journey to the United States market as well. It is expected that the S1 is going to be provided with a 2.0L engine but will have enough power to beat the 208-hp JCW Mini.
