With the beginning of New York Auto Show Chevrolet introduced its 2014 Impala, which has been redesigned for the customers who wish to have a car which is large yet affordable. In comparison to 2012 Chevrolet Impala, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala has many new additions and changes to be perfect competitors to the likes of Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300 and Hyundai Azera. With an easy-to-use-technology, an elegantly refined interior, the driving experience is exhilarating with an undoubtedly expressive styling this new car has a lot more to offer to its customers.
It was a challenge to come out with a new classic look which was not contemporary yet the design team could not rely on nostalgia of the technological front of this car. Although the design is not at all contemporary in this contemporary car but the attention has been paid to the last minute details when it came to the craftsmanship, elements of design, accelerated performance and advanced technology. General Motors’ Director of North America passenger car exterior design, John Cafaro seems to be very happy with the outcome of his designing team.
Other than the new outlook of the exterior the bonnet of 2014 Impala has new engines beneath its different variants. A four-cylinder, 2.5-liter base engine which pumps 195 hp of enormous power starts this line which is then followed by a four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine with eAssist gives 182 hp of power. The existing 2012 Chevrolet Impala will be carried over as an option which has a V-6, 3.6-liter engine generating 303 of horsepower. Here we see a big difference in the cylinder numbers, the reason for getting down from six-cylinders to four-cylinders is to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. This new series of powertrain is focused on not only giving a good power but also a good mileage. With no fuel efficiency test done by the EPA for the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala, still the firm calculates it to give a mileage of 35 mpg on the highway since it has an eAssist fitted into it. Even the 2012 Buik Lacrosse eAssist which has the same kind of powertrain, gives a mileage of 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
With a more refined double-cockpit assembly with better interior and more charming centre console the 2014 Chevrolet Impala becomes a bit common with its previous models for a moment. With a design to carry ahead the silent passenger environment with a better feeling of luxurious quality, the firm has finally achieved it with the launch of this particular car. Coming with ten airbag as well the On Star system of GM as the standard equipment, this car sure does look good. There will be few safety systems which may be optional to procure on request. Such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning system, blind-spot detection as well as monitoring, a unique system called collision mitigation braking where the brakes apply by themselves to help avoid a situation of crash and much more.
With a possible launch for sale in early 2013 the price and especially the complete specification has not yet been announced but as per speculations of the auto critics and experts the price for this new piece of Chevrolet could be in line with the latest Ford Taurus and Hyundai Azera which start from $25,555 and $32,000, respectively.
