The new Acura NSX supercar is now out but the concept that was revealed doesn’t have a bit common with the original NSX, apart from the mid-engine layout and V6 powertrain. Like the Sportscar Experimental the 2nd generation of NSX will be displaying some groundbreaking technology that will make it stand apart from some of its core rivals.
The most interesting part of the new Acura NSX is its new Hybrid layout that Acura refers to as Sport hybrid Super handling All wheel Drive or simply as Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. The NSX is expected to hit the market somewhere in 2015.
The name clearly describes it as a through the road hybrid that can match an internal combustion engine with the electric drive to give an all wheel drive system without any usual driveshaft or differential to increase the weight.
new Acura NSX system inherits power from the gasoline V6 that is mounted in the mid-engine position joined together by seven speed dual clutch transmission and other 3 electric motors. Two of the electric motors are used to power the front wheel and the third one is coupled with the transmission to power the rear wheel.
The setup will allow for multiple driving modes including electric or gas only mode or hybrid mode that will draw power from both the electric and gas engines. The delicate setup will also offer bilateral torque control system that can instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheel.
At the 2013 Detroit Auto Show Acura revealed the updated version of its NSX concept. The NSX concept was first revealed at the Detroit auto show last year. The updated concept delivers a better insight into look and feel of the final production version, including the interiors.
In a look it doesn’t look like some major changes, but if we look closer we will notice that most of the panels are now streamlined, bumpers have been changed and the exterior has been blessed by new carbon fiber elements.
The interior is fitted with the plush materials as well with carbon fiber and offers a clutter free design. new Acura NSX is also planning to fit a touch screen panel for driver inputs.
