The latest Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is going to be the ultimate track racer which is street legal by bidding farewell to the 911 series, which is codenamed 997, plans of replacement with a new model is all set as to unfold them on the Motor Show at Frankfurt in September.
The latest GT3 RS is to sport a lot of likes among the people with the fact it has been fitted with the largest ever engine to be seated on the 911 that is being approved by the factory. The engine will be an aspirated flat 6 unit which has a capacity of for liters and emits a horse power of 500 and 8250 rotations per minute. It is quoted that it has 50 horses in extra to the GT3 RS standard model. It is boasted to be the most powerful naturally aspirated engine that will host 125 HP for a litre. The engine sports a crankshaft that is obtained from the racing car of GT3 RSR variant of 911. The connecting rods of the forged pistons are built using titanium.
The output seems impressive with a 460 Nm of torque at its peak that is at a rotational speed of 5750 rotation per minute that aids this model of the sports car to unleash its stunning performance as to complete a lap at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in just 7:27:00 minutes which would be 1.7 seconds faster than that of the Carrera GT and faster by 6 seconds to the GT3 RS. The transfer of power to the rear wheels is carried out by sports transmission that is six speeds with its gears designed for the race track. Porsche tells us that the car can sprint in 3.9 seconds for a speed ranging from naught to 100 kilometers per hour and to 200 kilometers per hour in just under 12 seconds.
The materials like carbon fibers which are weight savers are used on the bonnet and the wings in the front, plastic is used for the windows at the rear, the weights of the carpets are also optimized, bucket seats that are of light weight are used along with the racing suspension components in the 911 GT3 RS 4.0. As a result of the weight reduction, the car weighs just over 1360 kilograms on the scale even with the tank at its full. The power-to-weight ratio is just 2.72 kilograms per horsepower which is awesome. There are very few cars that are in production that has a threshold less than 3 kgs per HP.
At the exteriors, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is all in white but it has its options with “RS 4.0” decals. It is unique to distinguish with the low stance that has wide tracks, a large wing at its rear that is adapted with the plates at its side and twin tail pipes at the center. The bumper in the front holds the deflection vanes which deflect the lateral air. They make their appearance for the first time ever on the history of Porsche. It is said that the downward force on the front axle with the combination of the rear wing propels the car on the roads with an additional aerodynamic force of 190 kilograms to reach top speeds.
The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is to make its debut on July 2011 in Germany which has its price tagged as 178,596 Euros which has its taxes included. The car is priced in US as $185,000 with the destination fees excluded. Sales of the car are to start later this year. It is quoted that the production of the car will be limited to 600 units for the whole world.
