For quite a long time Acura has been testing its next gen MDX, but the official production version is still months away from becoming a reality. Acura is all set to reveal its first prototype version at Detroit Auto Show in January 2013.
Acura revealed today the first teaser image that showed the prototype version featuring a new Aero Sculpture design that will be affecting the function. Expect for the prototype’s enchanting proportions with smooth lines that is to be carried in the product version.
Acura has not yet revealed the details about the new MDX powertrain, but the rumor suggests that the vehicle may be powered by a 3.5 litre V6 engine that churns 310 horsepower and a peak torque of about 272 pound-feet. There are also some speculations about a hybrid powertrain that will combine a V6 engine with 3 electric Motors. Further details about the next gen MDX will be revealed during its unveiling at Detroit Motor Show which is scheduled in January next year.
