2013 Dodge Dart unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show





The 2013 variant of the Dodge Dart has been unveiled by its maker, Chrysler Group, this Monday at the Detroit Auto Show. This compact car has been designed to resurrect the classic brand name of Dart. This latest car has been based on the Alfa Romeo.

The 2013 variant of the Dodge Dart is going to get its power from a four cylinder 2.0L engine in its base variant, which is going to generate a maximum power of 160Hp. This information has been revealed by Dodge through a statement. The car has also been provided with another four cylinder MultiAir 1.4L turbocharged engine, which also has the capacity of generating a maximum power of 160Hp. Use of the MultiAir technology, according to Dodge, is going to bring forth a increase of 15% in the torque of the car at low engine rpm’s along with improving the fuel efficiency by 7.5%. A third four-cylinder MultiAir 2.4L engine has also been provided and this is going to generate a maximum power of 184Hp. Buyers of the Dodge Dart will have the option of choosing between three transmissions – six-speed manual/ automatic/ automated manual.

The safety features that have been standardized in this car include 10 units of airbags, traction control, anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution feature. The Dart is also going to provide optional safety features, which is going to include a monitoring system for blind spots, a rear cross-path detecting system, and rear parking assist along with a backup camera.

The Dart has been provided with sleek and stylish exterior that is going to make this small car compete effectively with its rivals including the Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra. A popular news blog has announced that the Dart is going to be successful as it has been able to make effective use of a lengthened and widened Guilietta platform. This has given the car such a voluptuous body that even the Italian cars may blush in front of it.

The 2013 edition of the Dodge Dart is going to be made available in five trims (SXT, SE, R/T, Rallye and Limited). Production of the Dart, according to the company authorities, is going to start by 2012 second quarter. It is expected to come with a starting price of $15,995.
